BUILDING CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS SEM 2
PROJECT 1
" FAMOUS ARCHITECT " : EXPERIENTAL EXPLORATION OF BUILDING MATERIALS
The application of materials on buildings are varies. the choice and placement of the materials on buildings are able to distinguish the appearance and image of a building. this project is designed as an exposure for students on building materials that are universally used in building design. Furthermore, we were require to create a group with 7 members or 6 members. Then, we given one famous architect from the list. From the chosen architect, we should select 5 buildings of the architect for case studies.
in my group, we only have 5 members because of the others group already full. We given Daniel Libeskind as our architect. our group decided to choose Paviliun vanke.
Hence, we ha should follow the tasks that given to us, such as :
1. A brief background of the architect
2. Historical background of the chosen buildings
3. Narrative of the materials
4. Images of the buildings
5. Overall conclusion of the application

REFLECTION
From this project, i learned how different materials, characteristic, elements can be joined together, can adjust with the environment. I also learned about the building style of Daniel Libeskind, how he designed the building with the architectural context, apply his organic building design, and materials that related to the building and it context.
Side from that, i also gain more experience in group project. Not only for project one, but the tutorial tasks also given as group task. Therefore, i learned how to combine and cooperative with my group members. We have to support each other and push everyone in order to finish all the tasks and project taht given to us.
PROJECT 2
"CONSTRUCTION DETAILING OF BUILDING ELEMENTS "
This assignment is designed to allow the students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding on building construction in drawings through a site visit. One of the aims of this project is to develop an awareness and understanding of the strong interelationship between design amd technical knowledge.
This project. we were require to create a group with two members only. We have to find two storey building in East Asia specially in Malaysia to understand about the construction and detailing of that building. we need to produce 2 A2 tracing paper with all manual drawings of the layout plan, section, sectional detailing of floors, wall, roof, windows, door, and 2 specific elements which we chose from the building.
Me and my groupmate, Arriesa chose terrace house at Aralia Elmina. However after some tutorials wit or tutor, we should change the building type. Not a normal teraace house but should be a bungalow house or any houses except the terrace house.
Finally, we decided to choose a 2 storey house at Manado, Indonesia, which is designed and built by CV, Duana Bakti (my part time company at Indonesia). The house is typical a simple modern style.
I determined the 2 specific elements which is the aluminium louvres sliding door and the roof construction.
The first A2 tracing paper, we draw the layout plan of ground and first floor , and the section A-A and section B-B.
While the second A2 tracing paper (for building detailing), i draw the jointing details of floor, wall, and roof ; detailing of timber door and window ; detailing of the staircase ; detailing of the hipped roof construction ; and detailing of the aluminium louvres sliding door.
To draw all of this detail, we referenced to the Konsolidasi house file by CV, Duana Bakti. And we also referenced to some books such as the understanding building by Esmond Reid, architectural detailing by Edward Allen, Barry the construction of buildings, and architectural details by William Radford,

REFLECTION :
From this second project, I learned more about the construction and detailing specifically, since i taken all the parts or detailing drawing on the second tracing paper. To get the right drawing and details I have to collect data from the company and some books. I referenced all drawing by books and data as the right sources, not in internet. Because in internet i can not truly know the specific details and explanation, while in books all information and explanation is written there.
I also felt that this project, even onlu 2 members but harder than the project 1. Because this project we need to draw. and everyone has different drawing. So, i need to be more cooperative at this project, respect each other's works, and not complaining.
